Following on from the On CNN EP 23 months ago, I spent the summer of 2021 with new gear and out of the confines of a lockdown recording a new EP called The Six Colours of a Perfect Enigma. The whole EP was tracked, aside from two vocal takes which had to be redone, and was well into the mixing stage when I badly lost my voice twice in a two month period, each time taking 6 weeks to get my voice back to recording standard. Those delays, followed immediately by the Christmas period and a heavy university schedule made me decide to scrap this EP.

It was a heavy, intensely personal record. But I'd moved on, my feelings had changed. I couldn't get back to work on it. And so, after taking another couple of weeks off to think about it, I decided another release was needed - and then came Interplanetary/Nightlight.

Mostly written and recorded in April 2022 and originally scheduled for release on 27th April 2022, these songs are of a significantly improved production quality from On CNN with songs that I (somewhat grudgingly) feel display more of a Pop edge. Having missed the window before the completion of university work in May due to a dissatisfaction with the lyrics of the single, I got back to work on this in late June, although lacked the time to track the new vocals for tracks two and three.

Finally, in the closing days of August, I was able to return to the single briefly before completing it in November.

All instrumental tracks and the vocals for Interplanetary were recorded in April 2022, with the vocals for Nightlight and Petrichor recorded 31st August and 28th October respectively. Mixing and mastering were carried out in November.
